Career-ready credentials

Resources from TEA and Dallas County Promise

  • As of May 28, 2021, students who successfully complete a CTE program of study (HB 773, 87th Legislature) will qualify as career ready.

  • View the list of 244 industry-based certifications (IBCs) that are approved for accountability.

  • Learn more about industry-based certification reimbursements funded by HB 3 and review the related FAQ.

  • Dive deeper to explore IBC resources. These 1-pagers about each IBC include a description of the IBC, information about the approved certifying entity, and additional information about the assessment process.

  • Understand the differences between certificates (including Level I and Level II certificates) and certifications (including IBCs) in Texas.

  • Use CollegeWorks with students to help them explore careers and learn how to prepare for the careers they choose.

In February 2021, the North Texas CCMR Network for School Improvement convening focused on increasing career-ready outcomes for all students. In the video below, Lancaster ISD described strategies they have implemented to increase the number of IBCs their students earned.
